Immediately thereafter, I was more than pleased with what I found! The story is brilliantly written, the descriptive passages flowing like all the best children's classics, and the world is colorful, with life-like, interesting characters. Initially I was interested in the book after becoming familiar with the movie version of the story, under the title, 'The Secret of Moonacre.' And after learning that it had been based off of a novel, I dug around till I found a copy to try out. I enjoyed reading it for the first time and it will be a great addition to my collection. Although I thought I'd read everything that she had written I found when I started collecting that there are a number of titles that I had not read. I purchased it a few weeks ago to add to my collection of publications by Elizabeth Goudge who has long been one of my favorite authors.
